Laurel C. Tesch

NEW LONDON - Laurel C. Tesch, age 78, of New London, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at his residence. Laurel was born on Sept. 3, 1930, in the Town of Saxeville (Waushara County), son of the late Fred and Eden (Tokarski) Tesch.

He formerly worked at Peerless Launderers & Cleaners in Appleton for more than 25 years, retiring in 1990. Laurel then began a second career at Dodge Country in Appleton, where he worked as a shuttle driver for 17 years, until his retirement in 2007. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Laurel is survived by the love of his life, Vicky Tesch; three sons, Roger Tesch of Fitchburg, Kenneth (Peggy) Tesch of Oshkosh and Kelvin (Betsy) Tesch of Kaukauna; four brothers, LaWellyn (Yolanda) Tesch of Appleton, Arlin (Dolores) Tesch of Neenah, Percy (Magdalene) Tesch of Appleton and Fred Jr. (Eileen) Tesch of Menasha; three sisters, LaSenta (Emory) Spiegelberg of Larsen, Darley Holtz of Appleton and LaVon Tesch of Kimberly. He is further survived by nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Laurel was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Runo; three sisters, LaRue Struck, June Thiel and Lorna Tesch; a grandson, Michael; and great-grandson, Clayton.

Funeral services for Laurel will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Dale with the Rev. Lyle Luchterhand officiating. Burial will be in Appleton ' s Highland Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the CLINE & HANSON FUNERAL HOME in New London and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at ThedaCare at Home Hospice and special friends and caregivers, Ruth Wolf, Kathy Lorenz and especially, CNA Marie.

Mt. Morris, Wisconsin

Karl A. Branske, age 68, of Mt. Morris, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at home. He was born in Milwaukee on September 28, 1941, to Karl, Sr. and Leona (Sauby) Branske. Karl was a 1959 graduate of Winneconne High School. Karl lived and worked in the Winchester area until 1976, at which time he moved to the Berlin area, and for the past ten years Karl has resided in Mt. Morris.

Karl is survived by his mother, Leona Leske; one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Paul Milner; one son and daughter-in-law, Karl, III and Samantha; one daughter, Kari; his special friend, Colleen Kelly; three grandchildren; and three nephews.

Preceding Karl in death was his father, Karl Branske, Sr.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service for Karl will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

John G. Diedrich of West Bloomfield died Friday aged 84 years. His funeral was held Monday.

Carl T. Alverson

Carl T. Alverson, 77, Plainfield, father of two Plover women, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Plainfield, with the Rev. Dale R. Hanaman officiating. Burial will be in Oasis Cemetery in the town of Oasis in Waushara County.

Visitation will be at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday until the services.

Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Alverson was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Adams County, a son of the late Chester J. and Mable Mae (Taylor) Alverson.

He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and ambulance driver during World War II.

He was married to Ruby Marie Corbett on Jan. 25, 1947, in Virginia.

After the marriage they moved to the family farm in the town of Oasis and he operated the Alverson Portable Saw Mill for many years.

He served as town treasurer and on the Oasis Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife, Plainfield; one son, James (Diane), Plainfield; four daughters, Valerie (Joe) Mata, Plainfield, Diane (Bill) Fabich and Shelby (Joe) Chase, both of Plover, and Dawn Lucas, Hancock; one brother, David, Appleton; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister.

Bernard D. Gear

Bernard D. Gear, 78, Plover, formerly of Hancock, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hancock United Church of Christ with the Rev. Diane Fite officiating. Burial will be in the Hancock Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church until the services.

A memorial has been established.

Mr. Gear was born May 10, 1921, in Port Edwards, a son of the late Delbert and Alberta (Lane) Gear.

He was married to Esther Wrasse on Oct. 30, 1947, in Almond.

He served in the U.S. Army following World War II.

He worked at Nekoosa-Port Edwards Paper Co. for a number of years. He and his wife operated the former Hancock Nursing Home for seven years. He was employed as lead man for the Larsen Canning Co. and retired from the American Potato Co. in Plover.

He was Hancock Lions Club, Hancock Volunteer Fire Department and the Rogers-Oestreich American Legion Post 343 of Hancock/Coloma.

Survivors included his wife; two sons, Lyle (Amanda), Plainfield, and Robert, Hancock; four daughters, DeEtt (Dennis) Mann, Cumming, Ga., Bernadette (Bill) Froehlich, Neenah, Nancy Gear, Wisconsin Rapids, and Judy (Terry) Taft, Necedah; one brother, George (Bonnie), Wisconsin Rapids; and 11 grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three sons, Raymond O., Carl I. and Joseph A.; and one brother, Richard.

George B. Siler

George B. Siler, 87, of Hancock, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, Sept. 22, 2005, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Shanghai, China, the son of Dr. Charles and Dr. Marion L. (Pierce) Siler. He was married to Lois Lipman Soeurt on Oct. 6, 1967, in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Siler was raised in China where his parents were Congregational Medical Missionaries. When he was 11 years old, the family returned to the United States because of a revolution in China. He then lived with his family in Oak Park, Ill. He graduated from Oberlin College and Northwestern University. Dr. Siler was employed as a physician for the Standard Oil Co. in Whiting, Ind., and subsequently as the Medical Director for the Chicago Transit Authority. George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dr. Siler was an active and faithful member of the United Church of Christ in Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Siler, Hancock; four children, Anne (John) Meronk, Plainfield, Nancy Soeurt, Beloit, Jeannette (Monty) Curtis, Georgetown, Texas, and Elaine (Craig) Hunt, New Canaan, Conn.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Don) Faust, Claremont, Calif.; two brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Siler, Racine, and David Siler, Watseka, Ill.; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Drs. Charles A. and Marion L. Siler; and one sister, Marion Siler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ, Hancock, with the Rev. Diane Fite officiating and the Rev. James Rivers providing special music. Burial will be in the Fish Lake (Parker) Cemetery, Hancock.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at the church and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Lois A. Lipman Siler

Lois A. Soeurt Siler, 91, Stevens Point, formerly of Hancock, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at North Haven Assisted Living in Stevens Point.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at in the United Church of Christ in Hancock, with the Rev. Yul Kwon officiating. Burial will be in Fish Lake Cemetery in Hancock.

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the services.

Donations may be made to United Church of Christ, 301 N. Main St. Hancock, attention Rev. Yul Kwon.

Mrs. Siler was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Beloit, a daughter of the late Theodore and Hazel Lipman.

She was married to Cornelius Soeurt. He died in 1967.

She later was married to George Siler. He died in 2005.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and the First Congregational Church of Beloit.

Survivors include four daughters, Anne Meronk, Hancock, Nancy Soeurt, Beloit, Jeannette Curtis, Shreveport, La., and Elaine Hunt, New Canaan, Conn.; and eight grandchildren, Jim Meronk, Wayne Spritka, Julia and Robert Meronk, Paige and Andrew Curtis, and Connor and Carter Hunt.

Marvin Fraedrich

Marvin C. Fraedrich, 73, Waupaca died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at his residence.  He was born January 20, 1928 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Louis and Halena (Koop) Fraedrich, Jr.  Marv was a member of the Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church of Waupaca.  He had worked at Wagner’s Milk Products during most of his working life.  He loved fishing, hunting and playing sheepshead.

Survivors include a son, Kevin, Weyauwega; a daughter, Susan (Brian) Berring, Waupaca; 2 grandchildren:  Cameron and Keyara; a brother, LaVern (Arice) Fraedrich, Pine River; and 2 sisters:  Tilly McClelland and Lauran Walton, both of Oshkosh.  Marvin was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie. 

Visitation Friday 5:00-9:00 at the funeral home.  Services Saturday April 28, 10:00 a.m. Holly Funeral Home3 in Waupaca with Rev. Paul Hartrick officiating.  Burial took place following the service in Concordia Cemetery, town of Bloomfield (Waushara County), Wisconsin.

Joseph T. Waid

Joseph T. Waid was born in Ashtabula County, Ohio, April 22, 1837 and was therefore 77 years old when he died, March 8, 1914, on his farm in Mount Morris, Wisconsin. When 10 years old he came to Wisconsin and has lived here ever since, except for one year when in the war of the sixties. He resided in the town of Royalton until he was married October 12, 1861 to Miss Mary E. Pooler of Sheridan, Wis. To this union was born nine children, all of whom were at the funeral, March 14, 1914, except Laura, who lives in California. Mrs. Waid went on before him to the Great Beyond September 2, 1910. Their nine children are all left to remember the departed. Their names follow; Milo G. Waid, Mt. Morris, Helen R. Thomas, Berlin; Gilbert A. Waid, Leon; DeForest M. Waid, Mt. Morris; Warren W. Waid, Mt. Morris; Livonia A. Baker, Waupaca; Laura A. McCullough, Sunnyvale, Cal.; Benjamin W. Waid, Parfreyville; Gorette D. Waid, Pine River.

Mr. Waid lived so that he had many neighbors who were there at the last rites spoken by Rev. H. A. Brooks, his pastor, from Sec. Timothy, IV:1-8.

He enlisted August 31, 1864 in Company G 42nd Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers. Was honorably discharged at Madison, Wis. June 20, 1865, was a member of Captain Saxe Post, whose members were there at the funeral in a large number to pay their last respects to a loyal soldier and

comrade.

He was baptized August 2,1896 by Rev. J. A. Rowell; was one of the charter members of the Congregational Church of Saxeville when it organized as an independent church, August 27, 1896. He was trustee of the church from August 27, 1896 to December 31, 1910, also treasurer from 1898 to 1906.

Mr. and Mrs. Waid were always ready to work for and give their money for the church and if someone was  sick Mrs. Waid was the first and last one to come and work and comfort. Although he was not financially able Many times while he was treasurer of the church, he would pay the bills when the church was broke, and wait till the church could reimburse him. We shall miss his cheerful face, and Cheery whistle. May the Dear lord give us more. J. T. Waid

Mary E. Pooler Waid

HER SUFFERINGS ARE ENDED After ten or twelve years of struggle with that dread disease, diabetes, Mrs. Mary E. Waid of the town of Mt. Morris ceased her struggles last Friday and passed into the rest of the hereafter.

Mary E. Pooler was born in Grant, Herkimer County, N. Y. March 12th, 1845. Coming to this state with her uncle, Henry Ciperlie when only ten years of age, settling for a short time at Gills Landing, afterward removing to Sheridan, Wisconsin, where she grew to womanhood. On the 12th of October, 1861, she was married to Joseph T. Waid, three years later they removed to their present home in the town of Mt. Morris. To this union nine children were born, all of whom, with her husband, survive her. There are 6 boys and three girls, Milo G., of Medina, Wis., Helen R. Thomas of Antigo, Wis., Gilbert A. of the town of Leon in this county, De Forrest M. of Saxville, Warren W. of Mt. Morris, Mrs. Lavina A. Baker and Ben W. of Dayton, Wis, Laura A. McCullough of Wild Rose, and Goraette D. Waid of Pine River. Besides the children there are 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, George Pooler, Kasson, Minn., and two sisters, whose home is in New York. Notwithstanding her own illness and intense suffering, Mrs. Waid was always ministering to the wants of others, especially to the sick and afflicted. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Saxeville and was deeply interested in its up build. She also belonged to the Edward Saxe Post, Women's Relief Corps.

 The funeral was held on Sunday September 4th from the home, Rev. Mr. Amundson of Pine River officiating, the service of the W. R. C. being also used. All of the children, except Milo G. were present, the large attendance at the funeral testifying to the great esteem in which Mrs. Waid was held. Interment was made at the Howe's Corners Cemetery .
