| Waupaca County Asylum - Weyauwega, Wisconsin Physician’s Report - For the year ending June 1928 Transcribed by Paula Vaughan October 2010 To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the Waupaca County Asylum for the Insane: In presenting this, my twenty-fifth annual report, I am pleased to state that conditions in my department have been as satisfactory as any year during my incumbency. There has been less sickness and fewer accidents and deaths than usual. While there are always a certain number of cases that suffer from mental depression, stress and anxiety as a result of their mental incompetence, it would seem that even those afflictions have been lighter than usual. The general sanitation of the buildings and premises has been very acceptable and the general hygienic conditions have been well cared for. Occupation and amusement: Rest and recreation have been carefully planned to meet the requirements of each individual. Surroundings are made as bright and cheerful as possible and every effort is put forth to assuage the mental gloom that hovers over many of them. The mortality list for the year is as follows: | Date | Name | Age | Cause of Death | | July 18 | Richard Fluck | 83 | Cerebral thrombosis | | July 25 | Peter Johnson | 83 | Apoplexy | | Aug. 9 | Wm. Anderson | 68 | Chronic nephritis | | Sept. 17 | Steven Looker | 48 | Anemia | | Sept. 29 | Nance Peterson | 40 | Paresis | | Feb. 8 | Christine Jensen | 59 | Anemia | | Feb. 17 | John Reed | 80 | Haematemesis | | Apr. 25 | Bernard Gielow | 82 | Exhaustion of dementia | | June 1 | Charles Brown | 76 | Senile marasmus | | June 21 | Gust Lapinske | 46 | Exhaustion of dementia | | NOTE from transcriber: The dates given July through September would be 1927 and the remaining dates would be 1928. | In closing I wish to commend the excellent work of Superintendent and Matron and the hearty co-operation of employees. Respectfully submitted, E.H. JONES __________________________ Return to asylum page Return to Homepage Questions, suggestions or additions please email. Copyright © 1999 - The WIGenWeb Project |
