The La Valle Advertiser La Valle, Wisconsin Friday, April 21, 1939 Samuel Tordoff, son of John and Emma Thorton Tordoff, was born in the town of La Valle, March 3, 1854 and passed away at his home March 12, 1939, at the age of 85 years and 9 days. He grew to manhood in this vicinity. In 1878 he was married to Emma Roper who came from England with her parents in 1875. Two daughters were born to them. He spent his entire life in this community and lived on the farm where he died, for more than fifty years. He was of home loving nature and will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Turner and Mrs. Leon Scott of La Valle; two grandchildren, Mrs. Wm. Kennebeck of Ravenna, Ohio, Bruce Turner of Trinidad, Colorado; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Kennebeck; also one sister, Mrs. Alfred Beuchat of La Valle; three brothers, Ledger and Herman of Jamestown,l N. Dak., and Tom of Waukegan, Illinois. The funeral was held at his home Wednesday, Mar. 15 at two o’clock, Rev. Johnson of Wonewoc officiating. Burial was made in Oak Lawn Cemetery..
