Baraboo News Weekly February 3, 1927 Thursday RAILROAD MAN DIES ON DAY OF PENSIONING On the very day on which his pension was to go in effect after many long years of faithful service with the Chicago and Northwestern railroad, John Smith died this morning at his home, 718 Grove Street. Mr. Smith was one of the oldest conductors of the Madison division; friends state that there is probably but one man who has a longer record than he had. Notice of his retirement on February 1 had been posted. Mr. Smith was aged 69 years. He is survived by his wife and two sons and four daughters. They are John of Portage and Martin of Baraboo, Mrs. Harry Nelson of Madison, Mrs. Frank St. John, Mrs. Lloyd Milner and Mrs. Rudolph Yearman all of Baraboo. There are also 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Sisters of the deceased are Mrs. John Craig, Mrs. Bartlett Moman of Danburg, Mrs. T. Craig of Denver and Mrs. A. Ebert of Salt Lake City. Funeral service Thursday morning at St. Joseph's church and burial was at St. Joseph's cemetery. Baraboo News Weekly February 10, 1927 John Smith The funeral service of the late John Smith was held this morning at St. Joseph's Church the Rev. E. C. O'Reilly officiating. Requiem mass was sung by the Misses Ida Melz, Marie and Loretta Foley. Interment was made in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis Romelfanger, Richard Maloney, Patrick Sarahan, Thomas Larkin, John Conway and David Roche. Among those from out of town who attended were Mr. and Mrs. H. C.
