Reedsburg Free Press Reedsburg, Wisconsin May 3, 1872 SLAVEN--At his residence in Dellona, April 28th, 1872, James SLAVEN, aged 84 years. Mr. SLAVEN was a native of the North of Ireland, and came to the United States about the year 1820, taking up his residence in the State of New York. He was one of the oldest settlers of this State and County, having settled in Dane county about 1830. He removed to this county in 1846, settling in Dellona, where he has since resided. The manner of his death was in keeping with his long and peaceful life. On Sunday morning last, he arose at the usual hour, dressed himself and called the family, as was his wont. After some pleasant converse with one of his daughters who passed through the room where he was sitting, he was noticed by another daughter who came in, to lean up against the wall and groan, as if in pain. She immediately gave the alarm, and afforded him all the assistance in her power; but it was of no avail. In a few moments he quietly breathed his last. The funeral services took place on Tuesday, at the Catholic Church in Dellona, Rev. Father CONROY officiating.                                                                                                                                                                     COMM.
