Fatal Hunting Accident in Delton Roy Rodwell D. 28 November 1915 Baraboo Paper A sad accident happened last Sunday, one of life's tragedies that causes an inconsolable sorrow to the principles. Joseph Rodwell and his son Roy were out in the woods hunting. They had stopped to load their guns and in closing his gun on the cartridge, Mr. Rodwell's accidentally discharged, presumably owing to the firing pin striking the primer as it closed. The entire charge entered the young man's stomach just below the ribs, and as he sank to the ground he said, "you have shot me," Mr. Rodwell raised the young man's head in an effort to relieve him., but the dying boy said, "let me die." His Father asked if he wanted to say anything. "No," replied the son, "Good Bye." And the grief-stricken father repeating those last words held the lifeless form of his son in his arms. Roy Rodwell was born in the town of Delton in 1894 and had spent his life at home. He leaves father, mother sister and brother. Mrs. J. C. Kingsley of Kilbourn is a sister of his mother. The funeral services were attended by an assembly of sympathizing friends that filled the church to its utmost capacity. From the Scrapbook of Jennie (Kinglsey) Moon Dowd
