Kuhnau, 83, rural Baraboo, died Saturday, June 3, 2000 at the Cumberland Hospital, Cumberland, Wisconsin. She was born in Troy Township on February 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Alex and Rose (FISCHER) HOSIG. She was united in marriage to Henry KUHNAU on February 17, 1937. She was employed at Badger Ordinance, Naperville Newspaper Circulation Company and retired from Central Wisconsin Center in 1979. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Homemaker’s Club and Quilting Club. Erna enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting and music events. She is survived by: her husband, Henry, rural Baraboo; a son, Ron (Nancy) KUHNAU, Rockford, Illinois; a daughter, Marlene SCHIFFMAN, Prairie du Sac; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Dan) EDLUND; Kris (Mike) NIMMOW; Brenda SCHIFFMAN; Mike (Beth) SCHIFFMAN; Lynn (Jeff) BROWN; Cindy (Jeff) FRANKS; Scott (Cindy) KUHNAU; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Doris) HOSIG, Prairie du Sac; Donald (Florence) HOSIG, Prairie du Sac; nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8 with Pastor Robert RIEKE officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac, Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 at Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City. Memorials may be given to the family for Dr. DEGIOVANNI’S clinic in Haiti.
