JESSIE, age 83, died on Wednesday, January 29, 1997 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City (Wisconsin). She was born near North Freedom in Sauk County on October 20, 1913, the daughter of the late Otto and Ida (SCHWANZ) MIELKE. She graduated from Baraboo High School in 1931 and was united in marriage to Clarence J. JESSIE on March 7, 1934 in Baraboo. Before retiring, Florence was employed as a secretary by Badger Army Ammunition Plant, Attorneys Ploetz and Glynn of Prairie du Sac, and at the Sauk County Courthouse. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was a member of the ELCA Women’s group. She is survived by 2 sons, Norma JESSIE of Port Washington and Neal JESSIE of Prairie du Sac; 3 daughters, Lois (Hugh) BUCHANAN of Osseo, Jane (George) ALLAM of Thiensville and Jean JESSIE of Port Washington; 2 sisters, Esther GUNDLACH of Reedsburg and Meta MUELLER of North Freedom; 2 granddaughters, Rebecca BUCHANAN of San Antonio, TX and Emily (Jon-Mark) PETTERSEN of Sioux City, IA; a great-grandson, Brandon BUCHANAN of San Antonio, TX; a sister-in-law, Irene MIELKE of Baraboo; a brother0in-law, Raymond (Frantie) JESSIE of North Freedom; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, her husband, Clarence J. Jessie in 1975; 2 brothers, Fred and Obert Mielke; and 3 sisters, Bertha SMITH, Clara PUTTKAMER and Evelyn YOUNG, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 1997 with Pastor Andy Jones officiating Burial will be in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 1997 at Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home and also at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
