Reedsburg Free Press 10 December 1903 page 1 OBITUARY Martin Conway died at his home in Cheyenne Wyoming Friday morning, Nov. 13, 1903, aged 84 years and 7 months. He was born in the parish of Ballycroy, Co. Mayo, Ireland, on the 15th of April 1819. At the age of 28 he came to America and remained for some time at Pottsville, PA. He then went to Washington Co., N.Y. where he was married to Bridget Hession on Dec. 23rd 1851. In March of 1857 he came to Wisconsin and n the 1st day of April in that year reached the home of Patick Hickey in the town of Dellona. He lived in Dellona eighteen months after which he moved to the farm in Winfield where he spent thirty-seven years of his life. In 1894 after disposing of the farm and other property in Sauk Co. he moved with his wife to Cheyenne, Wy. where he has since lived and where Mrs. Conway died on the 2nd of July 1901. Any eulogy on the life of Martin Conway would seem surperfluous. He was well known in Reedsburg and vicinity for his upright life and sterling integrity of character. He was buried at Cheyenne on Monday Nov. 16th from St. Mary's Cathedral. His eldest son Rev. T.M. Conway was celebrant of the solemn Requiem Mass, assisted by Fathers Cumiskey and Bishop Kean preached the funeral sermon. He was a constant subscriber to the Free Press since the first number was issued nearly forty years ago. Contributed by Vicki Pierce
