Reedsburg Free Press 24 February 1876, page 3 Died Byrne - At his residence, in LeMars, Iowa, of Typhoid Fever, Feb 18th, 1876, Martin Byrne, aged 44 years. The deceased leaves a wife and several children, to mourn his untimely end, to whom he was most ardently attached. The news of his sudden death was received here, with unfeigned sorrow by all who knew him. He was one of the early settlers of Winfield, where he is spoken of as a good neighbor, an indulgent father, and a loving husband. His aim through life was to educate his children and bring them up as useful members of society, and with that view he removed to this village, about four years ago. Later, he removed to Iowa, and settled on a farm at Le Mars, where he was getting along nicely, when death marked him for its victim. Poor Martin, you were generous to a fault; and may the storms that buffeted you in this world, be turned to eternal sunshine in the world beyond the grave. Contributed by Vicki Pierce
