ÿþ Reedsburg Free Press Reedsburg, Wisconsin October 13, 1881 Under La Valle Elder James Aldridge died at his residence in this village, last Saturday night at 12 o'clock, after suffering for nearly three weeks, extreme pain a large share of that time. He leaves a wife, who is very feeble and it is predicted by some that she will not long survive him. He has been a minister of the gospel for long years, but for the last ten years he has not followed that exclusively, as his health was becoming impaired quite rapidly. Since his return from his Kansas trip two years ago, either himself or wife has been receiving medical aid the greater portion of the time. His last sickness was very sudden and severe. His attending physician gave very little hopes of his recovery from the start. The deceased was well known by the entire community as a Christian and a good citizen, one who always attended to his own affairs and was highly esteemed by his neighbors, and much sympathy was extended toward him during his sickness. The lonely wife has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in this, the trying hour of her bereavement in the death of her bosom and best friend on earth. Funeral services were held at the church in the village of Ironton, on Monday afternoon, the request having been previously made by the deceased. The burial took place at the Ironton cemetery.
