Baraboo News Republic December 27, 1965 Mrs. Aland Dies Suddenly Mrs. John Aland, 66, Baraboo, passed away suddenly at St. Clare hospital Sunday evening. Survivors include her husband, John M.; three daughters, Mrs. Harold King, Baraboo; Mrs. Richard Stahler, Milwaukee; Mrs. Fred Boyer, Madison; three sisters, Mrs. John Lenihan, Baraboo; Mrs. Leo Luckey, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Clarence Brilliott, Pynette; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:45 in the Hanson funeral home and at 10 o'clock in St. Joseph's Catholic church with Father Donald Beckius officiating. Friends may call at the Hanson Funeral home after 7 Wednesday evening where the parish Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock. ========================= Baraboo News Republic Wednesday, March 24, 1937 Mrs. Aland Is Buried Here Committal rites for Mrs. Anna Aland, formerly of Baraboo, took place at the St. Joseph's cemetery Tuesday afternoon, after the body had been brought here from Berlin, Wis., where services were held Tuesday morning at St. Michael's church. Pallbearers were Joseph Mitchell, Joseph Lehman, Ed Mendleski, John Bartol and Emil and Ned Peterson. Msgr. E.C. O'Reilly gave the committal service here. Local pallbearers were George Schaitel, Roy T. Peck, Joseph Conners, Judge Adolph Andro, H.E. Wickus and Clarence Hein. Accompanying the remains to Baraboo were the following out-of-town people: Mrs. Elizabeth Solper and Frank Van Der Leest, Green Bay; Mr. And Mrs. C.A. Service, Donald Aland, Mr. And Mrs. Emil Peterson, Mrs. Ned Peterson and Mrs. Theresa Gosch, all of Berlin; Anton and Leo Van Der Leest, of Stratford; and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Reuland, Steator, Ill. Mrs. Aland was born Aug. 30, 1871, at Green Bay, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Martin Van Der Leest. She was married to John Aland in 1892 at Green Bay. There were four daughters and one son, one of the daughters dying in 1913 at the age of 19. Mrs. Aland lived at Green Bay and then for 15 years at Baraboo. For the last five years she had lived with her daughter in Berlin. Survivors are four children, John Aland, jr., of Baraboo, Mrs. Service of Berlin, Mrs. Ivan Reuland of Streator, Ill., and Mrs. Duane Mistlele of Baraboo; a sister, Mrs. J. Solpher of Green Bay; and three brothers, Albert, Anthony and Frank Van Der Leest of Green Bay. There are eight grandchildren. Contributed by Jill Fyall Livesey
