-Thursday of next week is ground hog day. -Guy Wertz spent a few days in Milwaukee last week. -Wanted-Married man to work on farm. Inquire of Fred Hoke, Twin Bluffs, R.F.D. 1. -Mrs. Olmstead, who has been visiting with relatives here, left last week for her home in Beloit. -Mrs. John Borchardt had the misfortune Saturday of falling on an icy sidewalk and breaking her arm. -Claude Culver, a former Richland Center boy, who is now located in Burlington, Iowa, is visiting with old friends here. -Elbert Brindley was in Milwaukee last week where he took the examination of the Wisconsin bar. Mr. Brindley passed the examination and is now a full fledged lawyer. -Proposed plans for the new auditorium are at the Richland County bank where they may be looked over. The plans have not as yet been accepted but were sent here for inspection. -John Starr purchased the E.P. Bender property on Church street last Monday. The deal was made through the real estate agency J.F. Gile. Mr. Bender will remove to Viola soon. -Miss M. Schumacher wishes to announce to the people of the town and vicinity that she bought the millinery stock of Miss Gebhart and for one week, commencing February 2nd, will sell all trimmed hats for $2.50 to $1.00. |

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smyth spent Thursday at the J. R. Smith home in Richland Center. George Mahoney is again employed at the home of Warren Ripley. Mr. Nill, of Beloit, and Jesse Huffman, of Viola, visited with Will Huffman and family last week. James Tanner, of the Center, Sundayed with relatives here. Rev. Peckham has been busy conducting a revival on Little Willow. A large crowd attended the lodge supper Saturday night and about thirty-five dollars was cleared. YUBA The dance at Dedrich's hall Saturday night was well attended considering the amount of sickness in the neighborhood. Those on the sick list are Mrs. A. Dedrich, Mrs. Elliott, Emil Kolash and Robert Novy. Dr. Bender was called to Melanethon Creek last week to see Mrs. Gene Kelly, who has been quite ill. Mary Kennedy has returned from a week's visit with her sister, Mrs. Emmett McCarthy. The two year old child of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snorek, living near Hub City, died of diphtheria last week and was buried in the east Pine river cemetery. Born-to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Richardson, of Henrietta, a son, January 10th. Wallace Madding and family have moved to Woodstock. |
