About four o'clock last Saturday afternoon, a daughter of M. WELLER who conductsa private boarding house just east of the Zeitung office, saw a strange youngman coming down the stairs of the house, he asked the girl some question which shedid not clearly understand and passed out. The girl at once went upstairs and foundthat two watches and chains, several rings and four or five dollars in money, belongingto herself and sister, were missing. She at once gave the alarm but the chap haddisappeared. Marshal WATRY was given a description of the fellow and later foundhim at the depot in the act of making the train and placed him under arrest. On searchinghim, a Smith & Wesson revolver with all chambers loaded, a gold watch, pocketknife, 8 or 10 keys and $3.95 were found on his person, but not a sign of any ofthe missing articles was found. He is well dressed, smooth faced chap aged about25 years and says his name is James WATSON. He was given a hearing before JusticeSAUER and as Miss WELLER identified him as the man she saw at the house, he was heldfor trial at the next term of the circuit court and in default of bail is now injail.
