Ozaukee Obituary Reuben Wells

Of an attack of the asthma, at the residence of his son, David W, in the village of Grafton, in this county, on the 20th day of May last, Reuben Wells, Esq., aged 70 years.

The subject of the above notice was born in the town of Greenwich, Washington County,NY, March 6th, 1785. He was a volunteer in the United States Army, during the lastwar with Great Britain (1812), and as such did effective service for his country,as an artilleryman at the battle of Plattsburg.

He came into this county (Washington, later Ozaukee) as early as Autumn of 1836,and located upon Cedar Creek, about one mile south of the place where the villageof Grafton has since been built, and has occupied the premises upon which he located,until a day or two prior to his death.
