Peter J. Even, Sr. Passes Away at Saukville Home

Peter John Even, Sr., one of the pioneer residentsof the town of Saukville, passed away last Sunday evening about 8 o'clock on theold homestead which has been his home for the past forty-eight years. Death wasdue to the infirmities of old age, the deceased having been 85 years, 7 months, and1 day old at the time of his death.

Mr. Even was not a native of this county, but he has spent nearly all of his lifehere. He was born in Luxemburg on June 22, 1841, but when he was about four yearsold, his parents came to America, bringing the lad along with them.

The family settled in the town of Fredonia where Mr. Even lived until he moved toSaukville forty-eight years ago. He was married to Miss Magdelena Wiltgen in May,1867, who preceded him in death nine years ago this January.

Twelve Children Survive

He is survived by twelve children. The four daughtersare Mrs. J. F. Ritter (Mary), Mrs. Charles Redmond (Agnes), and Mrs. Frank Phillips(Susie), all of Kenosha, and Mrs. Math Bruendl (Katie), of Port Washington. Theeight sons are John, of Grafton; Peter, Jr.,of Port Washington; Anthony and Dominic, of Kenosha; Jacob, of Chicago; Henry, ofNew Holstein; Mike, of Saukville; and Math, on the homestead in the town of Saukville.

One sister, Mrs. Margaret Huebschen, of Port Washington, also survives, besides numerousgrandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mr. Even.

The funeral will be held at St. Mary's church at Saukville at 10 o'clock Thursdaymorning, with interment in the cemetery there. The Rev. Father Peter Holfeltz willconduct the last rites int he absence of the Rev. F. X. Schneider.
