Ozaukee County Census
In 1853, Ozaukee County was formed from Washington County. I am currently transcribing
the 1850 Washington County federal census. This census contained the townships that
currently make up Ozaukee County. It is my hope that this census will be helpful
to those researching the earliest settlers of Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.

1885 Ozaukee County State Census
Censuses were taken by the state of Wisconsin from 1836, when it was a territory,
until 1905. The 1836, 1838, 1842, 1846, 1847, 1855, 1875, 1885, 1895, and the surviving
fragments of the 1865 censuses resemble the early federal censuses, listing only
the head of a household by name and summarizing the number of others. The 1905 census
was the only state census in Wisconsin to list all the members of a household by
name.

1890 Ozaukee County Census
A fire at the U.S. Census Bureau in 1921 destroyed the original manuscripts of the
1890 U.S. censuses. No Wisconsin schedules (and almost none for the rest of the country)
survive for that particular census year. I have transcribed the 1890 Veterans Schedule for Ozaukee County which lists some of the surviving veterans or their widows.

1910 Ozaukee County Census Index
This index lists the surname, given
name, age, sex, race, birthplace, and locality at the time of the census for the
head of household member. It was generously contributed by Eileen Parris to help
other reseachers in Ozaukee County ~Thank you, Eileen!
I've divided the index into four pages for faster loading. The first page contains
some lines with lines drawn through the suname and given name columns. I looked at
the microfilmed census page and it has this note: "Sheet made from cards punched
by order of Mr. Hunt - Feb. Original sheet lost after cards were punched"
