In 1927, the Brandon Times republished a special census of the residents of Brandon conducted in 1877 as a part of the petition to incorporate the village. Unlike the original, the census has been alphabetized on family name for ease of reference. Within families, however, the names have been left in their original order. Numbers to the left of the names have been added and reflect the original sequence of families in the census. With those exceptions, the names and the text from the 1927 article follow as written. This Census Accompanied Application for Charter in 1877
     Last week we told of the application for the charter for the incorporation of Brandon, which was dated Sept. 19, 1877. Accompanying this application was a census containing the names of every person living within the incorporate limits of the village of 366 acres, according to the petition.
     So many readers commented favorably upon this article that the census taken then is reported this week. These names will recall memories to a large number of our readers.
